RE: Need campsite along I-20 near Jackson, Miss

In Jackson, turn north on I 55. Go a few miles and turn
right/east on Lakeshore Drive. You will, within a few
blocks, come to LeFleur State Park......FINE place.
This is almost IN downtown Jackson, but is totally wooded,
quiet.
P M me for details.......

Charge Engine Battery at Home

On motorhomes, when plugged in at home,
the HOUSE Batteries charge, but the ENGINE
battery does NOT charge. (I have never understood
WHY this is.)
My motorhome, after weeks in the driveway, has a weak
engine battery.
My mechanic says.....when plugged in, put a
jumper from a house battery positive to the
engine battery positive, and that will charge
the engine battery..........check the water level
every day for a while to ensure no overcharging

RE: Autopark ?? Transmisssion Problem

My AutoPark light blinked a few times,
then came on and stayed on. I thought
my transmission was stuck in neutral, or
out of fluid, or otherwise broken. BUT,
the AutoPark had failed (something called
the RGS.....rotten green switch) and had
caused the AutoPark to LOCK ONTO THE
DRIVE SHAFT and prevent it from turning.
THis is said to be a common problem, and
if it occurs at highway speeds you get
killed from behind. I conside these things
worse than junk........they are dangerous.
On THIS website contact OldUsedBear (do a
search for him) ....he is the world's
expert, and will guide you through this.

RE: Don’t buy State Farm RV insurance

Katrina destroyed my 32 foot Allegro Bus.
State Farm settled, at a more than fair price,
over the telephone, without seeing the motorhomek
and had it towed away.
I wlll stay with State Farm for auto/RV insurance.

RE: A/C dripping water into coach

Between the A/C and the roof
is a gasket.....rubber-like.
From inside the RV, remove the
cover and find the four bolts
that tighten this gasket. Do
NOT overtighten, but make sure
they are 'snug'. If that fails,
the gasket needs replacement,
an easy job. No need to disconnect
the wiring or freon lines.

RE: 20 amp, 30 amp & 50 amp?

Keep this in the back of your mind
15 or 20 Amps Two wires (hot and neutral).plus a ground & one breaker
30 Amps Ditto but larger wires and one breaker
50 Amps Different.....THREE wires. (TWO hots and a neutral)
Plus a ground.this is
TWO 50 Amp circuits
and you could draw
100 Amps if you had
enough load
But, when you 'adapt' a 15, 20, or 30 Amp plug into a 50 Amp
receptacle, you 'touch' only ONE of those two circuits, so COULD
draw only 50 Amps.........except the breaker IN YOUR RV will trip
at 30 Amps,or 20 Amps whichever size it is......Iknow this is confusing, but when you 'adapt' into a 50 Amp
receptacle you will see TWO breakers feeding it, and although you
may close both, only ONE will be feeding your RV.

RE: Camping near blue ridge pky

One of the BEST campgrounds I ever
visited is Mountain Stream at
Marion N C. I don't recommend\
driving
directly from the Parkway to the
campground (a few miles) because
the road is steep and curved.
But, call the campground and
tell them what you are driving
or pulling and get advice. I
suggest you do NOT miss this
campground. (It has a website)
P M me for more.

RE: Using RV generator for house power during power outage

KW5B............
The campground power supply to the RV
is NOT converted BY THE RV to two
120 volt circuits.....TWO 120 VOLT
CIRCUITS ARE SUPPLIED BY THE CAMPGROUND.
Picture a hot on top, a neutral, and
a hot on the bottom. There are 240 Volts
between the two hots, but the RV doesn't
use this...does not connect from hot to hot.
There are 110 Volts between each hot and the
ONE neutral, and the R V uses BOTH of these,
using the TWO 120 Volt circuits.....the R V only
USES these two circuits, it does not create them.
The voltages on the two hots are what you call 'out
of phase' (not a proper term in this case) so, if
the R V has, say 20 Amperes on each hot, these
currents 'meet at the neutral' and cancel.....the
neutral in this perfect case would carry NO current.

RE: 50 recepticle wiring

The original subbmitter refers
to the 30 Amp side and the 20 Amp
side of a 50 Amp circuit...THERE
AIN"T NO SUCH......in a 50 Amp
circuit there are TWO 50 Amp
sides, AS EXPLAINED in the other
replies. I suggest a qualified
electrician get involved quickly.
